Hyundai Holidays Christmas music commercial

Have you seen the "Hyundai Holidays" ads? After seeing a couple, I had to dig for them...
They feature the music group Pomplaamoose singing various Christmas songs... Found them on Hyundai's YouTube page. (Pomplmoose has a YouTube page, too.)

Check these out:

YouTube description:
"You know "Jingle Bells" by heart. But after hearing Pomplamoose's take on the classic tune this holiday season, it'll be wedged even deeper in your noggin... just between the perennial thoughts "The best gift for Dad is just letting him sleep" and "Hey, who drank all the eggnog?" But not getting this song out of your head is a good thing. Because Jack and Nataly's version of "Jingle Bells" is one of the catchiest you'll ever hear. Pucker up and whistle along to their VideoSong/commercial version for the 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe, you know, 17 or 18 times. Then check out the rest of the Hyundai lineup at http://www.hyundaiusa.com/. After perusing all those shiny-new sheet metal ideas for your wish list, get a couple more earfuls of cool, Pomplamoose tunes at http://www.youtube.com/user/Pomplamoo... From Jack, Nataly and "... everyone at Hyundai, have a safe and happy holiday!"

YouTube description:
"Hard to believe anyone could have as much fun playing music than Jack Conte and Nataly Dawn of Pomplamoose. Exactly the festive vibe every holiday song should have. Now, through the end of the year, you'll get swept up in the holiday spirit by the band's VideoSong/commercial of "Up on the Housetop" for Hyundai... maker of the 2011 Sonata, one of the more popular new cars on the road today. Combining great new looks with excellent gas mileage, the Sonata also has plenty of trunk space for, say, a Santa-hat-donning VideoSong artist and a handful of fake snow."

YouTube description:
"Hundreds of millions of people will sing "Deck the Halls" this holiday season. But not as sweet as Nataly Dawn of Pomplamoose does. Ain't no way. Her vocals and VideoSong cohort Jack Conte's brilliant arrangement (glockenspiel, anyone?) of the classic carol will easily put this "refresh" in the Top 10 on your mental playlist. At the very least, it'll fill your head with visions of Styrofoam snowmen and... the 2010 Hyundai Genesis — among the nicest rides you could wish for this holiday season."

You tapping your feet yet?

Pomplaamoose, kewl.

I found this post from Google, searching for the identity of the Hyundai Christmas commercial singers. Fun stuff. The keyphrase I used was "Hyundai Christmas commercial 2010" as suggested by Google Instant (I do work in search marketing) and this is the first post to return the info I wanted.

Thanks, Lizasan!

Thanks "game writer guy!" I've been working on my titles for SEO... and in the past few weeks, this post has gotten over 3,100 unique views!

Fun commercials for sure!

Correction - up to almost 4,000 unique views - the ad must be airing a lot on Sundays, almost 825 unique viewers just last night!

Not only has Hyundai gotten their vehicles right over the past 2 years, their spots have followed suit. No matter if they're these attention-getting gems (love their "Deck The Halls" arrangement the most), or other great examples throughout the year. No uber-retail CTAs or overly-desperate competitive comparisons – just cool and calm Bridges for VO, with good products, shot well. And from one copywriter to another, these holiday spots are a rare example of Bridges NOT carrying the work. He's used just enough not to intrude, yet still remind us what brand we are seeing from the get-go. Certainly engages me more than Honda's work – simply picking up the most obvious "holiday" music ever created. Although, I'm glad Vampire Weekend is making some dough. Pomplaamoose for the win!

Thanks for the insight John! Didn't see enough of Bridges' talent shining on Saturday Night Live this weekend but I did enjoy Tron. Also looking forward to True Grit. The Hyundai ads always turn my head to the tube. And speaking of the Honda ads, what do you think of the Tommy Hilfiger spots? http://homadge.blogspot.com/2010/11/tommy-hilfiger-holiday-commercials.html

Despite being such an obvious musical choice, I'll give the award to Honda for "best use of Vampire Weekend's 'Holiday'." The simple visuals match the equally simple makeup of the track. The Hilfiger spot isn't bad, but I can't help but judge it unfairly, based on having identical music. However, it shows that they weren't trying to be too serious with their brand. Both agencies/houses took the track and edited-to-picture in nearly identical fashion, but in a :30, the exact instrumental moments they used were undeniable, especially the single beat-ending.

SNL: I was very disappointed in how Bridges was utilized on Saturday. I have a very short list of actors and actresses that I genuinely get excited about being "out of their element" in an atmosphere like SNL. "How will they perform?" "Will they just read right off the cue cards that are distractingly far off stage?" "Or, will they own each sketch (Anne Hathaway comes to mind)."

I digress.

Bridges = fantastic in True Grit! And yes, Anne Hathaway = wonderful on Saturday Night Live. Also Jon Hamm and his "john ham."

Big fan of those commercials. Surprised, ... but not surprised they are a musical duo, they have something cool going on there.
